The soul of a school is its teachers. Our school works with teachers who have demonstrated outstanding performance in their studies. They have experience but also a lot of enthusiasm for work. They follow the tried and tested system of the school but always make their own mark in their classroom. For this school year the class distribution has been as follows:
The headmistress of the school, Mrs. Despina Maltezou, was born in 1973 and grew up in Argos. She graduated in 1991 from the 2nd Lyceum of Argos and studied Physics at the University of Athens. She then continued her studies in Radio-Electronics, obtaining her Master’s degree in 1997 from the Department of Computer Science and Telecommunications of the University of Athens. She completed her studies at the Pedagogical Department of Primary Education of the University of Patras, obtaining her degree in 2000. She continued her studies at postgraduate level in the field of Information Technology and Telecommunications, obtaining her second postgraduate degree in 2002. Since 2022 she is a PhD candidate at the Department of Informatics of the University of Peloponnese on the application of Virtual Reality in Education.
From 1995 to 1999 he has worked on European and National development projects in the field of computer networks. Since 2000 she has been teaching at the Model Schools of Maltezos Brothers, founded in 1960 by her father Dimitrios and her uncles Diogenes and Christina Maltezos. Since 2006 she has been the Director of the School, combining proven educational methods with modern technological actions and approaches. She introduced for the first time the eclass asynchronous education platform in a primary school (2010), teaching with OLPC (one laptop per child) , equipped all primary and kindergarten classes with interactive classrooms from very early on and implemented the full operation of the computer lab with free software. At the time of the pandemic he had prepared the school to start distance learning from day one. In 2023, it is the first primary school nationwide to be equipped with virtual reality goggles specifically for educational use. He has presented the school’s innovative work at various educational workshops and was appointed as one of the coordinators of the action “The network of innovative teachers – PARTICIPATE”, which was carried out with the cooperation of the Ministry of Education, EL/LAK and EAITY. She has the A and B training in the use of ICT in education, IEP trainings (Skills Workshops, New Curricula in Mathematics, etc.) as well as trainings and participations with her students in environmental programs, health education programs, cultural programs, rhetoric competitions, competitions and festivals of experiments in mathematics and science.
